What to look for in a good card sleeves

• Seam construction. Check whether the seam runs straight and fused evenly along the side, not glued in a wavy line that catches the card's edge and eventually splits.
• Plastic thickness. Quality sleeves list a thickness, usually 2 to 4 mil, while bargain packs skip that number entirely because the plastic is closer to sandwich wrap.
• Fit tolerance. A standard card is 63 by 88mm, and the sleeve should hold it snug without an inch of dead space where the card can slide and get creased at the corners.
• Clarity and price. Clear, non-yellowing plastic costs more to make, which is why the trustworthy sellers sit in the $4 to $16 range and the disposable ones undercut that floor by using haze-prone stock.
