Fluorescent ballasts from US brands and US-based sellers

6 US brands and sellers surfaced here at $15.75 to $35.00, each verified from Amazon's own published seller info.

A fluorescent ballast lives inside a hot metal fixture for years, so the thing that matters is whether the windings and potting compound can take that heat without humming, buzzing, or dying early. The cheap versions skip the potting, thin out the copper, and slap on a label claiming a wattage and lamp count they can't actually drive.

What to look for in a good fluorescent ballast

  • Match the lamp spec exactly. Check that the ballast lists your exact lamp type, T8 or T12, and lamp count, since a mismatched ballast will run lamps dim, flicker them, or burn them out fast.
  • Look for potting compound. A real ballast is filled with a tar-like potting compound that soaks up vibration and heat, and if you can shake the unit and hear the coil rattle loose, that compound was skipped.
  • Check the certification stamp. A UL or CSA mark stamped into the metal case, not just printed on a sticker, is what separates a ballast built to spec from one that just looks like it.
  • Price tells you something. The US-based sellers we found run about $16 to $35 for this part, and anything priced well under that floor is usually cutting corners in the windings or skipping the thermal protection switch entirely.

We read each seller's registered country from Amazon's own published seller info. We don't claim anything here is manufactured in the US, only that you're buying from a US brand or a US-based seller.
